Cakewalk By BandLab

If you’re a digital audio workstation (DAW) user or visitor of this site, you might have been aware back in November 2017 via the thread `Farewell Cakewalk Sonar‘, that Gibson – the owner of Cakewalk at that time had shockingly stopped production of this excellent digital audio workstation. This was sad news indeed for Cakewalk users around the world.

Fast forward to the thread `BandLab Saves Cakewalk‘, where BandLab had announced the exciting news (in February 2018) that they had bought the complete set of intellectual property of Cakewalk.

This was a sign of relief for many users now trying to consider their digital audio workstation options going into the future. Now, ladies and gentlemen comes the time you have all been waiting for, and more! You can download and use Cakewalk by BandLab for FREE!

Upon running and starting up Cakewalk by BandLab, you will reassuringly see that it’s the complete exact same UI we have come to appreciate and love. It’s all there, baby!

Thank you BandLab

I’m very excited about this new direction for the digital audio workstation – Cakewalk by BandLab.
There will no doubt be many developments ahead, and the Cakewalk/BandLab community is looking forward to what is to come.

When I first heard that the previous software (owned by Gibson at the time) was ceasing development, I wanted to know how to get upgrades to Cakewalk plugins, like Z3TA+ before it was too late. So, let’s hope that some of these great plugins will see further development, and be offered at an attractive price.

.. We have the great Cakewalk by BandLab DAW for free, and when people are up and running and feeling at home with their new production studio software, they can venture out and get more plugins to expand their game – if they wish.

This is certainly great news for former Cakewalk and BandLab users around the world, not to mention the millions of people who up until this point – thought they needed to spend hundreds of dollars to have a stand-alone DAW installed on their PCs.

Way to go BandLab, and thank you!
